Micro-update: Auto-save

Posted in EpicTable Development on February 2, 2010 at 9:51 pm

I got auto-save of campaigns and campaign resources working. I know, it sounds like a little thing, but it’s a big deal actually. The same code that handles auto-saving the campaign is used in notifying participants around the table of changes–everything from changing the name of a character to moving a game piece on the tabletop.

The campaign save is the most complex because it references all the other pieces. You can think of an EpicTable “campaign” as analogous to an html document in the sense that it references other things, characters, tabletops, maps, notes, etc., just like an html document references images or YouTube videos or whatever.

By the way, for those hyper-interested in day-to-day EpicTable work, I’ve been posting EpicTable status updates on Twitter. The tweets aren’t 100% EpicTable related, nor are you going to miss out on anything important if you don’t read the Twitter feed, but for anyone who really wants to poke their head into my office each evening…there you go.
