What’s on the tour?

All four demos contain the same content:

  • 30-minute “guided tour” of EpicTable
  • 30-minute Q&A session

I’ll be using GoToMeeting to share my desktop and for voice chat. GoToMeeting has worked out really well for me. It allows me to share my screen and has integrated audio and recording capabilities. As an attendee, you normally don’t need to install anything as long as your browser supports Java. Information about joining the demo is available below.

Okay, maybe not on-demand…how about upon polite request? If none of the demo times work for you, please let me know. I’d be happy to schedule a demo for you and your gaming group. Also, I hope to record some of these sessions and make them available after the con.

It was a great experience participating as a virtual tabletop vendor this year. I’d like to thank everyone who attended one of the EpicTable “guided tours”. I got lots of really useful feedback, and it was exciting to let people see the product in more depth than just a few screenshots.

My promise from before the con still stands: if any EpicTable forum members didn’t get a chance to see the demo and would like to do so, let me know and we’ll work something out.

While EpicTable still has some rough edges, I’m pretty pleased with how it came together for FUMcon. I’m looking hard at feature set vs. timeline. It’s been suggested that some of the larger items outstanding on my to-do list aren’t necessary for everyone, and that’s probably true. With a good update strategy and fair upgrade pricing, I might be able to move the release up a bit.

Pricing is another topic that came up multiple times during the demos. I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and while I’m not ready to start a licensing/pricing discussion in this thread, I’ll do so before too long.

All-in-all, FUMcon was a big success for EpicTable, and I’m glad to have had the opportunity to show people the product and help the guys at fouruglymonsters.com spread the word about virtual tabletops.

Realityforge (the creator of EpicTable) is a sponsor of FUMcon again this year. FUMcon (formerly iCon) is an online convention focused on virtual tabletops, organized by the ugliest denizens of Four Ugly Monsters.

While EpicTable is not quite ready for download, I’ll be running a number of demos during the con using a shared desktop technology. Stay tuned for announcements of demo times and check the FUMcon calendar to stay up-to-date on all the exciting stuff happening at the con.

At the con, you’ll get the opportunity to chat with folks about virtual tabletops, see demos, and play in games run on the various VTs out there. Most or all of the virtual tabletop developers make their products available for free during the con, and FUM maintains an event schedule. It’s a great opportunity to try out virtual tabletop gaming and meet some fellow VT gamers.

I’ll be posting events to the FUMcon event calendar later this evening. If you can’t make it to FUMcon, don’t worry—I’ll be running demos for the folks on this forum as well, and I’ll likely make videos available. Watch this forum for details about the where and when of all this.
