Virtual Tabletop Features - EpicTable
Developer’s Note:
This list of features is based on the product in development. Most of these are already working, and in the coming weeks and months, I’ll release more details, including screenshots and screencasts. However, I’m keeping them fairly vague for the time being. I don’t want to talk too much about the specifics of features that are still under development and end up tying my hands. One way to look at this, is that you have the opportunity to influence the development of EpicTable before its release. In fact, some of you have already done so. Feel free to contact me with suggestions, or better yet, post in the EpicTable Discussion section of the forum.John Lammers

Ease of Use
Advanced User Interface
EpicTable brings the latest Windows user interface technology to the virtual tabletop. Take full control of your game with tabbed, dockable, and auto-hide panels. EpicTable’s innovative use of ribbon galleries gives you instant, intuitive access to your handouts, maps, dice cups, and more.
My Game List
Whether you’re a GM, a player, or both, EpicTable keeps track of the games you’re playing. Once you’ve joined or hosted a game, it’s always just a click away.
Intelligent Resource Sharing
Share maps, images, and other handouts seamlessly and quickly. EpicTable efficiently distributes new or changed resources to the group.
If a player already has an up-to-date copy of the resource the GM is trying to send, EpicTable detects that and uses the resource immediately.
User-Extendable Galleries
Throughout the EpicTable interface, you’ll notice resources made available in galleries. Not only do the galleries give you quick access to resources, but it’s a fair bet that you can add your own creations to the gallery.
Roleplay Enhancements
Roleplay-Centric Chat
EpicTable’s chat features are tailored to roleplaying. Easily signal whispers or in-character vs. out-of-character speech. Assume multiple personas and signal your moods. Keep it all straight by organizing different personas, whispered chats, or immediate vs. longer responses in separate tabs.
Active Character Sheets
EpicTable’s "Active Character Sheets" streamline your game by letting you make rolls right from your character sheet. Put an end to those, "Wait–what do I roll for…" conversations.
And speaking of character sheets…
EpicTable has more in store for you here…but to avoid over-promising, I’m keeping this one under wraps for a little bit yet.
Maps and Encounters
Interactive Maps
Make the most of what you already own. Use map images from Dungeon®, Pathfinder® and other gaming resources. Create your own maps with Dundjinni or other mapping tools. You can use them all in EpicTable.
TrueVision
With EpicTable’s TrueVision, the players only see what their characters can see, based on lighting, obstructions, and visual acuity (e.g., darkvision) or equipment (e.g., nightvision goggles).
Instant Map Gallery
Unexpected encounters don’t need to look that way. Create a map in an instant from a gallery of textures and backdrops. Add your own too!
Lighting Galleries
Choose the lighting for your encounter. EpicTable’s galleries of ambient light and point light sources have you covered, whether you need a torch or sunlight, moonlight or a hellish glow. Extend the gallery with your own light sources!
Area of Effect Templates
EpicTable’s area of effect templates show you exactly which of your enemies are going to be caught in that next explosion or magical onslaught. Fire away!
Encounter Pad
Let EpicTable help you manage your encounters. Track turn or initiative order, spell effects, and other time-dependent game mechanics. Apply effects just by dragging them to the character’s portrait.
